I shall ride my chariot down

"Hey Greg, Do I like Van Morrison?" No. I love Van Morrison. I listened to Astral Weeks about 7 times over the weekend. This brings the total amounts of spins to no less than 200. I was telling a friend of mine that this is not just an album but an experience. If you love Caravan, check out the live version with The Band on The Last Waltz. But the original is on Moondance. We're talkin Astral Weeks here, baby. I'll post an all Van blog later. Today, lets enjoy Astral Weeks.
Baby don't do it
Highly unlikely but I turned on the radio a few months ago and heard Sometime Around Midnight. However, I did now know the name of the song or the name of the band! So month after month I kept hearing it on the radio and blasting it if it came on. I stuck to the fact that I loved the song when it came on the radio and was not tempted to investigate. Did I ever find out who this band was? Yes. A few days ago. Then I bought the CD. I'm not crazy about the synths and club-like grooves but that first single is great. Recently voted itunes #1 alternative song of the year, The Airborne Toxic Event's 2008 album is a keeper.
Shit From an Old Notebook
I watched the last half of The Minutemen Documentary, We Jam Econo a few nights ago. I went to the premier of the movie a few years ago at a really cool theater in San Pedro. Mike Watt and Hurley were there. Awesome movie, awesome band who I've listened to for years now. Never a dull Minutemen Moment. Watt rocks too. I saw him play bass for The Stooges. While writing this I'm listening to Double Nickels on a Dime. Good times.
