Swindletone Podcast #13

Matt and Shane in Studio! What a fun show. First we all did some chatting about our recent return to Disneyland. Then we talked Bruno and Harry Potter during Shane's segment: How Dare You?!? Then Matt told us about Cambodia. Great Show!

Swindletone Podcast #12

My buddy and former coworker Nick Duong stopped by so I could show him yet another hole-in-the-wall eatery. Before that we did some podcasting. First some financial planning stories then a round of Celebrity Birthday Forecast and then we talk about a close encounter with Richard Ramirez also known as: The Night Stalker.

*note: I messed up and compressed the last segment twice so it sounds louder than the rest of the show. Sorry!

This week!

I will be making my triumphant return to the podcast along with Nick Duong and Shane. Not sure if they will be separate shows or the same show but I'll have a brand new episode up with the theme: Triumphant returns. First, I returned to Disneyland this week from a 3-5 year hiatus. I also returned (not so triumphantly) to Riverside, CA to watch UFC 100 and party down. Here are some raunchy photos from the events. More details in this weeks show. Stay tuned!

According to Shane, his fingers were broken as a child and placed back together poorly resulting in gang signs in every picture on Space Mountain. I was screaming "Ay Dios Mio" while Ali, Lawman and Kirsten hung back while Shane and I drove.

Steve has a problem overbuying beer. Apparently a 30 pack isn't enough to make a pyramid so two 30 packs of Bud Light, plus a 12 pack of Sam Adams Summer Ale purchased. Lo and behold, it only takes 21 to make a "pyramid." We decided to have a photo shoot with our creation before we built a moat of Sam Adams bottles around it. I was declared with lightweight champion of beer pong and did a fair share of trash talking.

UFC 100 was great. I don't know many fans and I'm not sure how much anyone would like to hear my recap of the events. Notable moments (which you'll find in every recap): Dan Henderson knocking out Michael Bisbing then delivering a flying hammer fist to the KO'd Bisbing lying with his back on the mat. GSP dominating a much larger Thiago Alves despite a pulled groin in the third round. Frank Mir losing to the freak show, Brock Lesnar. Lesnar overwhelmed Mir then celebrated in a poor, unprofessional manner which he later apologized for. Yoshihiro Akiyama was victorious as well. More victorious were our nicknames for all things Akiyama related like Sake-Bombas, Leg Lock-iyamas, Croc-iyamas, trash-talkiyama etc...Like I said, I'm not sure who watches but if you're a fan, let me know. We'll chat. Good times.

Handfuls V6

I'd like to refer to this edition of handfuls as "carfuls." I had this particular batch of CD's in my car for a few months. My cd player is very picky. If I put a CD in I have to listen to it as long as I can. Everytime I try to put a new CD in it refuses to accept it. It spits it out yet I try to load one for 2-3 minutes while driving 80 on the freeway. There will start to be some repeat offenders on each of my lists. I listen to records again and again. Rarely does my music get less than 2 spins. The contents of the CD wallet that occupies the crevice in my driver's side door that I rest my left calf against is listed below:

The Associations, And Then...Along Comes The Association
Bill Withers, Lean On Me: The Best of Bill Withers

Stratosphere Boogie: The Flaming guitars Of Speedy West and Jimmy Bryant

Torch, Self Titled
The Kinks, Muswell Hillbillies
The Kinks, Lola versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One
Dinosaur Jr., You're Living All Over Me

Andrew Bird, The Mysterious Production of Eggs
James McMurtry, Childish Things
John Prine, Self Titled
Talking Heads, More Songs About Buildings and Food
The Smiths, The Queen is Dead

Swindletone Podcast #11

Toph (tophtalk.blogspot.com) and I sat down, talked about the recent celebrity deaths, summer movies and everything high, low and in between. I got Toph to think I had no idea that the Spiderman movies existed and I unveiled a new segment: Celebrity Birthday Forcast. It's a short one but a good one.
